My little brother has a 70 year anniversary red ryder and i was wondering if he can kill anything with it. I think its the same exact gun as this just says 70th anniversary. If he cant kill anything what is a good gun i can buy him to kill a squirrel maybe for under $50 a clean kill. He is about 80 pounds and 4' 10' tall if that changes anything. I really dont want to give him a .177 silent cat becuase i dont think hes ready for it but i would like to get something for him that is large enough and strong enough to take down a squirrel from about 20 yards. Or should i just let him use one of my rifles?

Hello Andrew, You would have a hard time killing any animal with the red ryder since it is a bb gun. Pellet guns hit much harder. The Gamo Recon is a youth pellet rifle with fairly low FPS (525) that is still powerful enough to kill small animals like squirrels. The rifle is a bit smaller than adult rifles so your son would have no problem using it. The gun is $75 which unfortunately is a bit higher than your desired $50. I hope this helped
